Property Owners

Managing Property Owners

Property Owners are users who own the properties that you are managing.  In order to create and edit property owners, navigate to the People / Owners page using the left navigation.

From here, click on Add Owner.  The owner dialog will open.

Fill in the property owner’s first and last name, then email address.  If you would like them to have an account on the platform, check the “Create Account for Owner” checkbox (this is recommended).  A confirmation email will be sent to them.

Please note that at the current time of this writing, a property owner must be a person with a first/last name and not a company name.  This will change in the near future, where you will be able to create companies made up of multiple people.  But for now, only one person can own a property.  Rent payments can still go to corporate entities, as will be discussed in the PAD guide.

Assigning a Property to an Owner

Now that we have a property owner, we can create a property and assign that owner to the property.

Navigate to the Properties page under Properties / Manage on the left navigation.

Click on Create Your First Property.

Fill in the property details.  Notice how you can optionally assign a property owner to the property.  Click Save once you have added the information.

Deleting an Owner

You can delete an owner from the Owners page by first selecting them using the checkbox in the leftmost column, then clicking the delete button.

A confirmation dialog will present itself to ensure that you want to take this action.

When a property owner is deleted, they are unassigned from any properties that they may have been assigned to.  In addition to this, any future PAD payments that were scheduled to go to bank accounts that they control will be cancelled.  In-flight transactions are still processed.

Setting up PAD for Property Owners

You won’t be able to set up PAD for a property owner until you have first gone through this process.  We have a separate guide for that, here.

Once you are approved for PAD, you will be able to set up rent payment to either go directly from the Tenant to the Property Owner or you can have them go to an account owned/managed by your business.  This is covered in the PAD guide for property managers, found here.

Owner Portal

If you opted to create an account on our system for the property owner, they will have a portal that they can log into.  This portal will show upcoming and past transactions to bank accounts that they control.
